Like his first book, Gil
Mann?s "Sex, God, Christmas and Jews" attempts to
answer complicated questions about life and faith from both
Jews and non-Jews alike.
The idea began with an
e-mail from a troubled woman asking for advice, and led to a
forum on America Online called "Judaism Today: Where Do
I Fit?" The e-mails started pouring in and thus Mann
began his quest to answer the many issues brought to him
daily through his computer.
This is not a book that
requires you to sit down and read the entire thing straight
through. Rather, it is one to refer back to; to unite with
millions of individuals having many of the same thoughts and
emotions as you.
It?s not often you find a
book that seems to speak directly to you, but this book does
just that. It is a human connection, expressed through its
pages in the form of e-mails.
From religious doubts and
controversial societal subjects, to racy relationship
topics, this book answers questions that many would never
dare to ask out loud.
When you consider the fact
that the Internet is so broad and expansive, it?s
fascinating to think how Mr. Mann?s books bring so many
people together in virtual discussions. The book is unique
because it is not only a book about Judaism, offering a
glimpse into Jewish life and traditions, but it shows that
people of all religions have the same questions and concerns
about life and faith. It is not just a book about Judaism;
it is a book about humanity.
The basis for Mr. Mann?s
book is simple, and the content is honest. For anyone who
has ever questioned religion, faith or life itself, this
book is a must-read.
